  • VOLTA PROGRAM COORDINATOR

    Camp Director/ Counselor/ Volta Club Coach (she/her)

Originally from Belgium, I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was there, playing in the small forest behind my house, that I fell in love with the outdoors and climbing on anything and everything. Later, I graduated from Juniata College with a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science. In the winter of 2022, I worked as a naturalist for Exploring New Horizons Outdoor School. There I conducted daily interpretive discovery walks with students which included tide pooling, hiking out to see the northern elephant seals, and exploring the redwoods. Most recently, I worked as the Lead Summit Steward in Acadia National Park for the last three seasons and had the joy of helping facilitate the connection between beauty and conservation out on the trails.

Since joining Volta as the Program Coordinator, I’ve fallen in love with the Volta community and all the encouragement and connection I get to witness every day. Climbing has been a place of community, growth, and joy for me. My experiences and witness to the confidence, problem-solving skills, and connection climbing can bring to someone has only fueled my enthusiasm for sharing it with others.

I’m incredibly passionate about creating spaces where kids feel comfortable trying new things, building friendships, and being themselves. I’m not afraid to be silly, play games, and throw in some embarrassing dance moves and I’m super excited about making Expedition Volta a memorable and transformative experience for all.

Camp Counselor/ Volta Club Coach (he/him)

I was born, and grew up, on Mount Desert Island and have spent much of my life exploring and adventuring in Acadia! After graduating from MDI High School, feeling a strong sense of connection to my natural surroundings, I studied Conservation Biology at St. Lawrence University, where I had the opportunity to learn about many wonderful types of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems and creatures! During my time at St. Lawrence, I was grateful to also play on the Men’s Soccer team. This past summer I brought my learning home with me and worked with Friends of Acadia as a Recreation Technician, helping to collect visitation and visitor impact data throughout Acadia.

I joined the Volta staff team in December and have been having a blast engaging with the surrounding community through our community events and as a coach for our Club Volta youth program! My coaching stems from my own experience being coached and mentored throughout many years of athletic and academic participation. I am beyond excited to continue growing, learning, and playing alongside the Volta community and especially excited to be co-leading our upcoming summer camps at our home in Trenton and out and about in our wondrous natural surroundings here on the coast of Maine!
