Bi-monthly Drop-in Community Acupuncture at Volta
Hosted by Sarah Tewhey BS, Licensed Acupuncturist
Join Sarah Tewhey for a drop-in bimonthly community acupuncture clinic at Volta! Check out upcoming dates below.
What is Community Acupuncture? How does it work?
Community acupuncture is done in a group setting and allows for treatments that feel safe, financially accessible, and community-oriented.
When you arrive for your treatment, you'll chat very briefly with Sarah about what you would like to address and have the opportunity to lie down (yay!) on a yoga mat or sit upright in a chair.
Sarah will place between 5 and 10 needles on points located at or below your knees and ankles, and you'll rest with needles in for 20-25 minutes. Most people feel very relaxed after treatment!
You will be in a group setting. If you have concerns that you feel need to be addressed in a private setting, Sarah can refer you to other providers who can help you in a safe one-on-one space
Why should I try acupuncture?
Community acupuncture is great for injury or pain in the joints on the limbs, insomnia, stress, and to increase overall health and well-being. You don't need a reason to be treated, and many people make acupuncture part of their regular wellness routine. Acupuncture is also great for addressing musculoskeletal issues that can impact climbing!
Come get some needles for that pesky wrist or ankle issue, or to help calm your nervous system, improve sleep, and recalibrate your stress response.
What should I wear?
Please wear loose and comfortable clothing that can be easily moved out of the way to accommodate your needles. If you have knee pain, for instance, leggings are not the pants to wear! If you have a shoulder concern, wear a loose short-sleeved shirt or tank top.
What does payment look like?
Payment will be a sliding scale from $20-$40 via cash or Venmo at the time of treatment. Pay what you can. No one will be turned away.
Will the needles hurt?
Acupuncture doesn't hurt! Many people fall asleep during treatment. Sarah is a consent-based provider, and if you are nervous about needles, we can go at whatever pace works for you, even if that means you only do one or two needles for your first treatment!
The needles Sarah uses are about the thickness of a human hair, sterile and single use.
Will I need a Volta waiver?
Yes, everyone in the Volta facility needs to have a Volta waiver filled out. To save time at check-in, fill out a digital waiver on our website. If you complete a digital waiver, you’ll only have to fill it out once! Questions about the waiver? Email info@voltaclimbing.com
